artafterscience, a new media, time based art, video, and interactive projected created by computer programmer Adrian Marshall and artist Zev Robinson, continues to move apace. Although some of the projects are becoming more complex, artafterscience has always been concerned more with ideas and content than technology, with technology being in service with content. Much of the work has been concerned with new media collage and poetics, where the juxtaposition of any two objects - images, sound, text - influences and alters their relative meaning. With this in mind, artafterscience has taken as it inspiration a variety of sources and artists. Besides the composers/performers who have kindly lent the use of their excellent and cutting edge music, these include John Cage, Steve Reich, Joseph Cornell, Borges, Michael Snow, Tarkovsky, Eugene Ionesco and other writers of theater of the absurd, Andy Warhol and pop art, surrealism. 2005 promises to be an exciting year, with several new works, projects, and showings coming up. |
